Introduction
The SPACE FOR FREEDOM is a meeting point for institutions and individuals committed to laicism in different countries around the globe. This space aims to encourage the exchange of information, experiences and proposals, and by doing so hopes to encourage a collaboration that will promote the defence of laicism, civil rights and freedoms and equality.
This hopes to be a dynamic space, energised by the participation of committed organisations and individuals. Therefore, the website offers a host of resources and options for visitors to participate and exchange opinions and contributions.
The SPACE FOR FREEDOM project has been organized and designed by Fundació Ferrer i Guàrdia.
Fundació Ferrer i Guàrdia has been working for laicism since 1987 to demand the creation of a State that remains neutral to different options of conscience (religious or secular). This goal is required to create conditions for citizen empowerment, based on education and on expanding citizens’ rights to guarantee that each member of the community can define their life project without being compelled to subscribe to arbitrarily imposed dogmas, tutelage or authorities. Fundació Ferrer Guàrdia belongs to the Moviment Laic i Progressista, a federation of organisations that strive to actively promote freedom of thought and to achieve the highest rates of personal and public happiness: www.mlp.cat
Fundació Ferrer Guàrdia promotes the Lliga per la Laïcitat, an alliance of organisations that promotes the development of laicism in the public domain: www.laicitat.org.
