Organizers
Fundació Ferrer i Guàrdia and Moviment Laic i Progressista have organized and designed the Space for Freedom Forum.
Fundació Ferrer i Guàrdia has been working for laicism since 1987 to demand the creation of a State that remains neutral to different options of conscience (religious or secular). This goal is required to create conditions for citizen empowerment, based on education and on expanding citizens’ rights to guarantee that each member of the community can define their life project without being compelled to subscribe to arbitrarily imposed dogmas, tutelage or authorities. Fundació Ferrer Guàrdia belongs to the Moviment Laic i Progressista, a federation of organisations that strive to actively promote freedom of thought and to achieve the highest rates of personal and public happiness: www.mlp.cat
Fundació Ferrer Guàrdia promotes the Lliga per la Laïcitat, an alliance of organisations that promotes the development of laicism in the public domain: www.laicitat.org Lliga per la Laïcitat has played an active role in the organization of the Forum.
In the framework of the commemoration of Francisco Ferrer Guàrdia’s Centennial, a meeting of individuals and citizen organisations that support empowerment derived from equality appears as a chance to update philosophies and activities that address how the citizenship can build spaces for freedom and fight for improved rights.
